Oh my golly - this pup is so sweet. You are so very talented - love all your creations. I have just started needle felting and have a long way to go :-)
Thanks for stopping by! My name is Kay Petal. I live in the small town of Wasilla in the beautiful Matanuska Valley of Southcentral Alaska. Sculptural needle felting is my thing!
I discovered needle felting in January of 2007 and haven't looked back! I have had so much fun learning the magic of making wool come to life. I started blogging shortly after I started needle felting. This blog chronicles my journey. The first images are some of my earliest works. You can see them evolve into my Felt Alive Wool Sculptures!! I hope you enjoy my creations! Please make sure to visit my website - I have lot's of helpful information for people new to needle felting. I have videos and tutorials too!
Nearly as much as I love needle felting, I love teaching needle felting. I teach both locally and online. I have developed unique and innovative online needle felting workshop complete with an 8 chapter tutorial/ebook that has over 70 pages of pictures and step-by-step instructions and an extensive online video library of technique demonstrations. Students can start any time and work at their own pace while getting personal instruction from me via email. It's really fun and I am proud to say I have students all over the world!
What is sculptural needle felting? Using a single, barbed needle borrowed from commercial felting machines, wool fibers are tangled and compacted by repeatedly jabbing the needle into the fibers, forming three-dimensional felt sculptures bound only by one’s imagination.
Please feel free to browse the pics, post comments and by all means - sign my guestbook!
Besides being a needle felting fanatic, I am a survivor of a rare type of salivary gland cancer. I was diagnosed and treated in 2005. I am doing well and have learned the true importance of recognizing the things that make me happy. With the love and support from my hubby of 22 years, I am lucky enough to be able to focus on the things I love about life full time!
